Come down and watch the DARPA Grand Challenge with the Curtin Robotics Club! It's a great way to wind down a bit before the mad rush in tuition free week begins. There will be board games and snacks!   The event is free!   Join NOVA for an exclusive backstage pass to the DARPA Grand Challenge—a raucous race for robotic, driverless vehicles sponsored by the Pentagon, which awards a $2 million purse to the winning team. Armed with artificial intelligence, laser-guided vision, GPS navigation, and 3-D mapping systems, the contenders are some of the world's most advanced robots. Yet even their formidable technology and mechanical prowess may not be enough to overcome the grueling 130-mile course through Nevada's desert terrain. From concept to construction to the final competition, "The Great Robot Race" delivers the absorbing inside story of clever engineers and their unyielding drive to create a champion, capturing the only aerial footage that exists of the Grand Challenge.       ------------------ This event is only for university students.

12-04-2023 10:00 – 13-04-2023 17:00
CRoC is back this year with the beginners Hackathon! Gather your team mates for two days of robotic fun and chaos - the goal is you and youre team will work together to contruct a robot that will complete a mystery objective, or built to a theme to be revealed on the day.  Day 1 will consist of learning the basics of Arduino and the components you will use to construct your bot. Afterwards you will form teams and begin building your bot. If you dont have a team on the day, dont worry - we will assign you one. Day 2 will be the competition day where you will perfect your bot and present it to a panel of judges from the university and industry - there will also be free food! Sign up here to reserve your place at this FREE event. This is to ensure we can cater free food and prepare robotics kits for an accurate number of teams.  Ensure to bring your own laptops, chargers, any USB converters (if you have a mac computer) and have the Arduino IDE installed.  Keep an eye out for emails closer to the date which will contain details of the days alongside any materials given in advance. Please don't hesitate to message us if you have any questions.
